baby dust anyone?? will it work this time, or is this another fail month?
november and december 2009, i got my period the 11th-15th. then in january it didn’t come until the 16th, it was 5 days late, and i thought i was pregnant, but it said no. my period was not normal at all during the whole whopping 4 days it was there. very light, almost pinkish in color. according to the online ovulation calendars, i should have been ovulating the 1st thru 4th i am guessing, since it’s normally a 30 day cycle for me (i had pain in my right abdomen as well, sticky discharge that was white then clear, stretchy). so i had sex at the ending of january, and those days this month. now i have a cold, sore throat, really tired all the time, no fever, hungry, nausea for about three days, and pain in my right abdomen like i was when i was ovulating for about three days now. do i stand a chance or is this another let down month

when should i test?
i have been having sex since december to make this work, lol and my period are normally 5 days, and consistant in bleeding, never pink or light

wohooo those are signs of pregnancy.
You must see a girl doctor. They help more then boy doctors which are rougher.

Test around the 20th, to be safe.

I’m probably going to really annoy you here, but honestly try to ignore any symptoms as they can be totally misleading. We were TTC for 16 agonizing months, and for 3 of those months (separately) I had really strong pregnancy symptoms - and wasn’t pregnant for any of them. Not saying you’ll suffer the same thing (it just felt so cruel!), but it really helps not to get your hopes up as it becomes increasingly unbearable when you’re disappointed.

Are you using fertilityfriend.com? I found it invaluable and wished I’d known about it sooner.

I wish you lots of baby dust and all the luck in the world. I know the highs and lows all too well :-) Skibabe | Feb 08, 2010

Well baby dust to you. It is a bit early for symptoms if you ovulated the 1-4th. Since implantation can take 8-12 days. When is your period due? I would wait until the day of your missed period, if only to avoid a false negative and the let down! Sounds like yo had some great O signs!

Are your periods usually light?

I wonder if your uterine lining is thick and healthy enough to support implantation?

Something to consider.

amber m | Feb 08, 2010

i didn’t have any abnormal symptoms when i got my positive result, but me and my husband were TTC so i thought i was just going to pee on a stick to get a negative but to my surprise it was a positive :) lol

if i remember right i think me and my husband probably concieved on the 1st or 2nd of September, because i got a faint positive result on the 12th of september, and i went for a blood test that monday to confirm it and to find out yes indeed i’m preggerz :)

i agree with the other poster who said test around the 20th :) that way you should get an accurate result, even if the results are not what you expected, have a blood test done anyway just to settle your mind :)

TONS OF BABY DUST TO YOU DEAR FRIEND!!! :)
good luck

Fellow Ramadan Citizens: Need Some Help?
I was wondering if one is new to salat, what can one do to gain knowledge on how to pray?

Are there any websites? Please provide links.
Also, speak from your own experience. How did you learn salat? Was it a parent or guardian who helped you?
Or did you learn yourself? If so, how?

My other question is: What punishments do we face on Judgment Day for not saying Salaah?

For now, farewell and have a lovely night.

The purpose of Salah is a lot more than following few rituals. Salah is the second Pillar so it must stand on something and must be support something. Only Allah(SWT) know best, rather than concentrating on hell and punishments seek Allah(SWT) forgiveness, who is most forgiving, merciful, gracious and kind. He says repent and I will forgive. :-)

Many websites explain Salah, the following I’ve found that explains the essence of Salah, and its benefits and reasons;

I suggest you do the same thing. It also helps because you can ask someone at mosque for help on any issues you don’t understand.

Zero Effect (1998)

IMDB rating: 6.80

Plot: Shifty timber tycoon Gregory Stark (’Ryan O’Neal’ (qv)) is being systematically blackmailed and the use of regular private detectives have proved ineffective. Stark decides to call upon the services of the renowned, reclusive Daryl Zero (’Bill Pullman (qv)), supposedly the world’s greatest detective. Stark is very surprised to find himself discussing the intimate details of the case with Zero’s amiable associate Steve Arlo (’Stiller, Ben’ (qv)) who explains Zero’s propensity for never meeting with clients. Zero, using his two ‘obs’ of objectivity and observation, quickly discovers the identity of the blackmailer but continues the case in order to discover exactly why the seemingly ordinary Gloria Sullivan (’Kim Dickens’ (qv)) is attacking Stark in this fashion. As Zero becomes more engrossed in the case and, even worse for him, becomes personally involved with Gloria he is forced to decide between the blackmailer and his client!

Does Obama's Over-Use of Speeches Give a Bad Name to Speech Itself?
When I was growing up significant discourse was considered to be the central focal point of the cultivated life. It was what the dinner table was all about. Later this became the seminar table. Still later it became the counsel table. Significant discouse is purposive, it is concise, it is intending real conduct that actually does occur and that leads to outcomes that make a difference. It is not like rhetoric of no consequence or babble of no meaning. It is more like strategic planning and orders of battle.

In my little town, people are highly suspicious of speech already. To them, speech is mere vanity. For them life is about hands to work hearts to God. They are functionally aphasic by choice. It’s like living in a Fransciscan monestary. They do work very hard. They have no time for talk. They hate prattle, or useless speech that benefits nobody. They are not big on improv either, I can tell you from painful experience. They are mainly agrarian people — farmers, builders, lawn care people, home repair people. They don’t want shilly-shally, they want to "git er done". Most of their talking they do at Lowes and Home Depot. It’s about pipes and electrical fixtures.

Me, speech is my abode. My only habitat. It’s my little part of the tree. It guess it’s where the chattering class lives. So, I am sensitive when somebody devalues speech to the point where it becomes an object of general ridicule. Obama has done that. He’s given speech a bad name. He’s made "significant discourse" and object of contumely. By making 8362 speeches with zero outcomes he has become a laughingstock himself, but more importantly he has left little room in his wake for anybody to speak in a way that would be deemed significant. It’s a scorched earth effect, like after a meteor hits.

If speech goes, what happens to Western culture? What happens to me? Quo vadis?

This is the question on which I seek your knowledge and information. Please answer my question.
So far, the "responses" all appear to be by people who did not read the question. It costs me more than 5 points to put up a really thoughtful question. It takes time and effort. If I get nothing back for it, it’s not worth doing.

Speeches have immense power which is why politicians like to give them. There are many poor orators and a few gifted, like Winston Churchill, who spoke from the heart.

Obama speaks for effect. Certainly, he can deliver a mighty speech - full of soaring rhetoric, recollection and energy - but, it lacks the substance of Churchill because it is too wordy and lacks heart. Churchill’s speeches were about "doing" and "feeling" whereas Obama’s speeches are about him and his goals so they are self serving. He overuses speeches to the extent that he dilutes the result of the effort as our eyes glaze over at the prospect of yet more words that simply drone on.

Language can be beautiful and powerful. It can invoke passion and action and sometimes, it is used for the wrong reasons and has a poor outcome.

Confucious wrote "Fine words with an insinuating appearance are seldom associated with true virtue" and to me that means the words don’t define the person speaking them or prove that they are good.

Samuel Johnson wrote "Language is the dress of thought" except in Obama’s case, it is overdressed to the extent of being a parody of a simple action - speech - which should be used sparingly but with effect.

Great question and thank you for asking it!

Di | Jan 29, 2010

Here’s an outcome: GDP growth is a POSITIVE 5.7% (the highest growth in 6 years), after falling to NEGATIVE 6.4% under Bush.
Reality has a Liberal Bias | Jan 29, 2010

Ah yes, Obama does give very beautiful speeches and can be very convincing & his voice carries so strong. We all like that kind of speaker.—— However for those of us who are doing our own background checking and listening to the only news station (FOX) that tells the true scoop. We know the underhanded stuff that should never be taking place. His interest lies in himself, and we better clean up The House, Senate and Congress alike. It’s up to us. We can do it together.
JILL | Jan 29, 2010

I never listen to speeches. No matter who is making the speech, I read the text instead.
I’m not impressed by the delivery, but only of the words/meaning.
To me, the State of the Union was meaningless..Just pretty rhetoric.
But, that’s what the people want to hear, and what gets people elected.
The funny thing is..we vote for the person who "delivers" the pretty speeches, and not for the person who actually wrote the speech..weird huh?

But, when someone comes along that uses speech that actually has meaning, they are assumed to be a liar, just as all the others..Yes, it’s a sad state of affairs, this ’speech’ stuff.
If people spoke less, people would lie less. Your silent community has a point.
Chetco | Jan 29, 2010

Where were you when Bush gave speeches or spoke anywhere? Now there was plenty of material for complain. The contend was defying and the language totally inadequate.

And now, if Obama speaks - which he does most eloquently - you need to spout off and if he does not speak often enough you raise Hell as well. You need to get a Life.

please read this about the end ofthe world in 2012…?
Scientific experts from around the world are genuinely predicting that 3 years from now, all life on Earth could well finish. Some are saying it’ll be humans that set it off. Others believe that a natural phenomenon will be the cause. And the religious folks are saying it’ll be God himself who presses the stop button…

1. Mayan Calendar

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2…7 2/Mayan_5.gif

The first mob to predict 2012 as the end of the world were the Mayans, a bloodthirsty race that were good at two things:

Building highly accurate astrological equipment out of stone and
Sacrificing Virgins.

Thousands of years ago they managed to calculate the length of the lunar moon as 329.53020 days, only 34 seconds out. The Mayan calendar predicts that the Earth will end on December 21, 2012. Given that they were pretty close to the mark with the lunar cycle, it’s likely they’ve got the end of the world right as well.

2. Sun Storms

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2…o lar_storm.jpg

Solar experts from around the world monitoring the sun have made a startling discovery: our sun is in a bit of strife. The energy output of the sun is, like most things in nature, cyclic, and it’s supposed to be in the middle of a period of relative stability. However, recent solar storms have been bombarding the Earth with so much radiation energy, it’s been knocking out power grids and destroying satellites. This activity is predicted to get worse, and calculations suggest it’ll reach its deadly peak sometime in 2012

3. The Atom Smasher

Scientists in Europe have been building the world’s largest particle accelerator. Basically its a 27km tunnel designed to smash atoms together to find out what makes the Universe tick. However, the mega-gadget has caused serious concern, with some scientists suggesting that it’s properly even a bad idea to turn it on in the first place. They’re predicting all manner of deadly results, including mini black holes. So when this machine is fired up for its first serious experiment in 2012, the world could be crushed into a super-dense blob the size of a basketball.

4. The Bible says…

If having scientists warning us about the end of the world isn’t bad enough, religious folks are getting in on the act aswell. Interpretations of the Christian Bible reveal that the date for Armageddon, the final battle between Good an Evil, has been set down for 2012. The I Ching, also known as the Chinese book of Changes, says the same thing, as do various sections of the Hindu teachings.

5. Super Volcano

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2…s thelenaex.jpg

Yellowstone National Park in the United States is famous for its thermal springs and Old Faithful geyser. The reason for this is simple - it’s sitting on top of the world’s biggest volcano, and geological experts are beginning to get nervous sweats. The Yellowstone volcano has a pattern of erupting every 650,000 years or so, and we’re many years overdue for an explosion that will fill the atmosphere with ash, blocking the sun and plunging the Earth into a frozen winter that could last up to 15,000 years. The pressure under the Yellowstone is building steadily, and geologists have set 2012 as a likely date for the big bang.

6. The Physicists

This one’s case of bog-simple maths mathematics. Physicists at Berekely Uni have been crunching the numbers. and they’ve determined that the Earth is well overdue for a major catastrophic event. Even worse, they’re claiming their calculations prove, that we’re all going to die, very soon - while also saying their prediction comes with a certainty of 99 percent- and 2012 just happens to be the best guess as to when it occurs.

7. Slip-Slop-Slap-BANG!

We all know the Earth is surrounded by a magnetic field that sheilds us from most of the sun’s radiation. What you might not know is that the magnetic poles we call north and south have a nasty habit of swapping places every 750,000 years or so - and right now we’re about 30,000 years overdue. Scientists have noted that the poles are drifting apart roughly 20-30kms each year, much faster than ever before, which points to a pole-shift being right around the corner. While the pole shift is underway, the magnetic field is disrupted and will eventually disappear, sometimes for up to 100 years. The result is enough UV outdoors to crisp your skin in seconds, killing everything it touches.

What do YOU think????

This is just another theory in the pile. The pile of theories that were 100% wrong.

The Biblical end of the world has been predicted to be in 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1998, 1997, 1996…you see where I’m going..and if you don’t, you have bigger problems than thinking the world’s going to end in a few years.

Sure, it’s possible the world will end then, but it’s no more likely than it ending now, ten seconds ago, ten seconds from now, or any other time. It’d just be coincidence that it happens to end during one of the more popular completely absurd conspiracy theories.

So, in conclusion: google "end of the world + n" where n is any year. ANY year. You’ll get thousands of results. But guess what, the world didn’t end in 2009. Or 2008. Or 2007. Or ever.

Love is too young to know what conscience is;
Yet who knows not conscience is born of love?
Then, gentle cheater, urge not my amiss,
Lest guilty of my faults thy sweet self prove:
For, thou betraying me, I do betray
My nobler part to my gross body’s treason;
My soul doth tell my body that he may
Triumph in love; flesh stays no father reason;
But, rising at thy name, doth point out thee
As his triumphant prize. Proud of this pride,
He is contented thy poor drudge to be,
To stand in thy affairs, fall by thy side.
No want of conscience hold it that I call

Any good ideas????????
I have to make up a Greek god or goddess for English, but I can’t think of an really good ideas for one. My only idea is a god or goddess of frost, and I’m not even sure what I would name them. Any ideas help!!

(the god/goddess has to have a talent that explains a natural Happening, like the sun rising, or a feeling, like jealousy.)

Pagos or Pagono are Ancient Greek for the word "ice."

Pagono is the goddess of "the cold heart;" the destroyer
of love and relationships. She instills doubt in the heart
of the one who loves another.
